**Updated 01-30-21** Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions/AITX Key Points highlighting growth potential - 2021 and beyond:

Updated 02-11-21 Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions/AITX Key Points highlighting growth potential - 2021 and beyond:
1 - AITX is an international technology company that is offering artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced software and hardware technologies to revolutionize and disrupt the 128 billion dollar global security industry. AITX currently has about 30+ employees distributed across offices in the USA and Canada, with plans to grow to approx 50-60 employees by year end 2021 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6IXHyZ291U). AITX currently has an approximately 770 million dollar market cap. (https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/AITX/profile)

2 - AI is emerging tech, currently a 40 billion dollar industry, that is projected to grow at a 40% compound annual growth rate; that's a $1.1 trillion market by 2030. (https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/artificial-intelligence-ai-marke) The AI sector still has huge room for growth and AITX is positioning itself to capitalize in this new, rapid-growth market.

3 - AITX currently offers 4 software applications and 5 hardware devices for mobile and stationary security solutions that combine lower security costs with enhanced security features (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/solutions/). These devices are ever-vigilant, always-aware, non-corruptible, and non-discriminatory. AITX’s security technologies are replacing expensive manpower, that is largely doing nothing, with sophisticated technologies that can do a lot, at a far lower cost.

4 - AITX designs, creates, engineers, and develops all solutions in-house; from point A to point Z, AITX controls the entire supply chain. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6IXHyZ291U)

5 - AITX recently filed its latest quarterly report showing that AITX is entering a stage of high-growth, demonstrating significant signs of positive company results. Quarter over quarter:
(https://www.otcmarkets.com/filing/html?id=14624922&guid=ngBKUWRpjODiDth) (https://www.otcmarkets.com/filing/html?id=14443369&guid=ngBKUWRpjODiDth) (https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/AITX/overview)

6 - AITX currently has dealership agreements in place with 15-20 security companies worldwide for device and applications deployment, including agreements with 2 of the largest security companies in the world, Allied Universal and Securitas AB (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/clients-dealers-partners/). AITX is continually adding new dealers and expanding its potential customer base, most recently announcing the addition of two new dealers to the AITX dealer network: Protos Security and Civitas Group. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-dealer-agreement-with-protos-security/) (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-dealer-agreement-with-civitas-group/)

7 - Allied Universal is AITX’s largest dealer by sales orders. Allied Universal will soon be the largest security company in the world. AITX President Steve Reinharz recently shared on social media that “Allied loves ROAMEO” (https://discord.com/channels/666673916898574359/726826023349387374/799094992001564682) ROAMEO is AITX’s recently developed, high-tech, autonomous mobile security device; high interest from Allied in ROAMEO could translate into significant future deployments and significant increase in revenues (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/roameo/). Further elaborating on Allied Universal’s relationship with AITX, Steve also has stated, “it’s pretty exciting when the world’s largest security company is a fan, and I’m really grateful to them for that” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly29Sq0R4KY).

8 - The recent quarterly report also shed some light further on the great demand for AITX’s ROAMEO device, it states:
This would represent approx $19 million of revenue over the 5-year ROAMEO contract life-span.
This is a significant increase from the previously released figure of $16 million in ROAMEO pre-orders, suggesting that the orders keep rolling in for ROAMEOs. (https://www.otcmarkets.com/filing/html?id=14624922&guid=KNBKU62ZL28guth) (https://radroameo.com/)

9 - AITX technologies are versatile and offer significant benefits and potential savings to multiple industries, and the company has begun to see the adoption of its solutions in multiple verticals. AITX technologies have already been deployed in the Healthcare, Transportation, Logistics, Construction, Automotive, Real Estate, Food Retail, and Film industries (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/press-release/).

10 - AITX devices and applications are currently being offered in 3 countries worldwide - USA, Canada, and Romania - with plans for continued global expansion. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/clients-dealers-partners/) (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-dealer-agreement-with-civitas-group/)

11 - AITX technologies are currently deployed in 15 states - including some of the most populated states in the USA like California, Texas, New York, and New Jersey. (https://discord.com/channels/666673916898574359/726826023349387374/804548471687217164)

12 - AITX has multiple Fortune 500 companies in the sales funnel, and as current clients; most recently announcing a multi-unit order from a non-disclosed Fortune 500 customer. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-that-previously-anticipated-large-order-is-in-hand) (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-large-opportunity-on-the-immediate-horizon/)

13 - Just in the 1st month of 2021, AITX has PR’d the orders for 11 devices, representing a significant increase in recurring monthly revenues:

And on the first day of February AITX President Steve Reinharz tweeted out 2 more orders were received, 1 for a ROSA and 1 for a WALLY. (https://twitter.com/SteveReinharz/status/1356260271984046082)

14 - Demand for AITX technologies is so great AITX President Steve Reinharz initially had to increase his order for device materials from 60 shells up to 70 shells. (https://twitter.com/SteveReinharz/status/1351890188520198145)
AND then he received even more orders and had to order 15 more shells bringing the total to 85 shells. (https://mobile.twitter.com/SteveReinharz/status/1359101917343879168)

15 - AITX is the parent company, currently consisting of its 2 subsidiaries:

16 - AITX will be launching a 3rd subsidiary in 2021 - staffing has begun and further details will be revealed this year. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6IXHyZ291U)

17 - Due to increased demand and sales of stationary devices - AITX recently expanded production capability and opened a new assembly facility in Irvine, CA. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-growth-upgrades-two-locations/)

18 - Due to increased demand and sales of mobile devices - AITX recently opened a new office in Waterloo, Canada, that is 3x larger than the previous office and has a 10k square foot outdoor mobility technology testing yard. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-growth-upgrades-two-locations/)

19 - By efficiently streamlining their supply chain while expanding their production capacity, AITX has recently achieved decreased lead times, by as much as nearly 40%. This will help dealers and customers be able to more quickly receive and implement AITX solutions into their projects and enterprises. AITX President Steve Reinharz has stated that starting in March, AITX’s 2 most popular devices, AVA and ROSA, will now be available to be ordered via a Quick Ship option that will see the devices shipped within 72 hours of order. (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/robotic-assistance-devices-announces-72-hour-shipment-on-some-products/)

20 - Research and development and innovation are constantly ongoing at AITX - focus is on developing solutions driven by customer demand. In the most recent Q&A with shareholders AITX President Steve Reinharz stated that there will be one new hardware device revealed and two new software solutions revealed in 2021. (https://discord.com/channels/666673916898574359/726826023349387374/788559778598092820)

21 - AITX is US reporting: Full SEC reporting; it is very rare to find full SEC reporting companies in microcaps and OTC Pinks markets - the fact that AITX is full SEC reporting demonstrates the company’s commitment to full shareholder transparency. (https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/AITX/profile).

22 - AITX President Steve Reinharz is committed to making himself accessible and available to AITX shareholders and the investor community at large. He has stated that he feels that his second mission, as AITX expands, is to work to expand the AITX investor base and increase the exposure and raise the profile of AITX in the investor community (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWEB9srh7OE). He frequently makes himself available on the AITX discord chat (https://discord.gg/99jJAc9), engages with investors on twitter (https://twitter.com/SteveReinharz), and has regularly scheduled once-a-month Q&A’s with shareholders on the discord chat. His efforts have had impactful results, with Steve’s twitter followers now numbering ~ 8500, the number of followers on the AITX page on stocktwits.com now numbers ~ 24,200 !! (https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AITX), and just in the past 3 weeks almost 50 AITX focused Youtube videos have been created, where in the previous months there were only a handful. (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=AITX&sp=CAI%253D)

23 - Old toxic convertible debt has been renegotiated into non-toxic, non-convertible debt as of December 15, 2020 (https://roboticassistancedevices.com/artificial-intelligence-technology-solutions-restructures-convertible-debt/). AITX President Steve Reinharz has stated “no toxic debt ever again”. (https://discord.com/channels/666673916898574359/726826023349387374/799395141928484907)

24 - Steve has definitively stated that there is no plan for a reverse split, and since toxic loans have been renegotiated, and the market cap of the company has soared, there is no, and will be no need for a future reverse split. (https://discord.com/channels/666673916898574359/726826023349387374/793663595505647658)

25 - AITX President Steve Reinharz has publicly set very ambitious uplisting goals for the company. He has stated that in 2021 AITX will uplist to the OTC QB tier of the OTC Markets. Uplisting to the OTC QB tier will give investors more confidence in the transparency of the company and broaden the appeal of AITX. In the next few years, he has stated the company will set its sights on uplisting to the NASDAQ, a goal he states he thinks could be achievable in the next 3-4 years. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWEB9srh7OE)

26 - AITX President Steve Reinharz has stated that with continued growth and increased revenues, the company plans to consolidate AITX stationary and mobile facilities, by opening and moving all manufacturing to a multi-acre, multi-building compound in Michigan sometime in calendar year 2022, or 2023. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6IXHyZ291U)

To the people who abandoned their dog almost 10 years ago

So I tried posting this on the lost and found and the general community section of Craigslist but it was auto flagged so fuck it, I use Reddit way more anyway. This is just an appreciation post for my pup.
I didn’t actually find a dog roaming the streets or anything.
9 years ago, one of you out there either lost or abandoned a less than one year brindle old puppy on the streets of Missoula. It would have been around August or September of 2012.
I want to thank you. If you lost him I’m sorry and if you abandoned him, fuck you.
He was found roaming around by himself, ribs showing, tail wagging trying to find his owner. Well the humane society were the ones who eventually got him. He was locked in his little kennel at the human society for a few months, so apparently he wasn’t a priority for you.
It so happens I was in town doing construction on the Silvertip apts up at the end of town by that sketchy Thunderbird motel. My ex gf was there with me and stuck in the house we rented off S. Orange st.
She was bored and felt out of place since leaving California and was desperate for a pet to sink her daily energy into. Well we found “Austin” (now known as Clyde) when we went to the shelter “just to look”.
He was the happiest boy in the whole place. He even pee’d a little from excitement when they let us in his cage. He literally couldn’t stop his whole butt from wagging when they let us outside to interact with him. He would let us pet him and then naw at our hands and wrists desperate to play. It was obvious he was ready to go home with whomever ASAP.
We really wanted to take him home too and told the folks at the front desk as much. There was a little problem tho. Someone had already applied to adopt him :( We were heartbroken. Cue 2 days of sulking by my ex and us looking around at other dogs up for adoption. We had basically given up and decided to adopt from somewhere else at some other point. On the 3rd day after first seeing him I got a call from the humane society, the guy who applied to adopt him had decided not to inform his landlord he was applying to adopt a dog. Well the landlord specifically forbade animals at his property and when the humane society called to ask his permission he said absolutely not! Now we were the next people in line for adoption!!
My landlords were fine with us having a dog! (Thank you Karen and Joe!!!!!) And so it was, we now had a dog.
Cue the next 9 years and my ex and I are no longer together, but I got the pup in the breakup. The best dog that I could have ever hoped for!
He has lived in MT, ID, NV, CA and NY. He has brightened the days of so many, including my now deceased grandfather who’s house Clyde lived at for 4 years in upstate NY. He had 6 acres to roam freely, walks in the woods daily and 15 cousins and aunts and uncles galore who loved him just like I do. As I get ready this morning to take him on a walk, I wanted to post this. I thought about doing it years ago but never got around to it.
He’s getting grey in the face, he’s got some fatty lumps on him (non cancerous he’s been seen at the vet) but his tail never stops wagging and he will still lick you to death if you let him. He is still the squirrels worst enemy and hasn’t lost any of his treeing instincts. I hope we get another 9 years with him god willing.
I’ve given him the best life I could. Plenty of walks, playing and treats. He’s been around the country more than some people I know. My ex and I fought over him during the breakup more than any other thing we shared. But he was my first dog that I got on my own. There was no way in hell I would give him up. She would have had to come physically steal him from me. Luckily she wasn’t that kind of person and eventually relented since she was the one cheating and had already had someone else to dump he energy into.
So for whoever it was that abandoned him or let him run away that summer of 2012 you suck.....but thanks.

The horrific murder of Septic Tank Sam: tortured, sexually mutilated, shot, burnt, and thrown into a septic tank

A man's remains were discovered on April 13, 1977, in a septic tank on an abandoned farm near Tofield, around 68 km east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He had been rolled up in a yellow bedsheet tied with nylon rope and thrown head-first into the septic tank, after being shot several times, burned with a blowtorch and cigarettes, beaten, and sexually mutilated. His body was then covered in quicklime. While this would have more quickly dissolved the body, the small amount of water in the tank caused the quicklime/water mix to only burn superficially and dried out the chemical reaction; thus, the body was kept preserved. Although this man's story has been posted before, I aim to consolidate all theories and updates I have found. If the motive behind his murder is never discovered, hopefully his identity at least will become known.
From the autopsy, there arose a possibility that the man was ill as a child, ~ 5 years old. Two years after the discovery, investigators invited Dr. Clyde Snow to help with identification, who took 125 measurements of the skeleton after the body was exhumed. These measurements facilitated revision of the man's description: he was either Native American or Caucasian, and between 25-40 years old. He was 5'5-5'7, weighed 145-165 lbs, and had a medium build. DNA and dental work are available; fingerprints are not.
It is suspected that the killer(s) was familiar with the area because of the rural location of the abandoned property and that based on the clothing, he was a labourer or construction worker and not from Alberta. Many Canadians will know someone who's travelled to Alberta for work in these types of environments. Of course, neither of these suspicious may be true - maybe the killer was someone from out of town who'd noticed the abandoned property; maybe the man was local.
National Database
In 2014, the federal government passed legislation, called Lindsey's Law, allowing RCMP to create a DNA-based missing persons index. The national database finally came online in 2018. The database has 3 non-criminal indices: the Missing Persons Index (DNA profiles of missing persons from personal effects), Relatives of Missing Persons Index (DNA profiles voluntarily submitted by close relatives of the missing person), and Human Remains Index (DNA profiles from human remains). There are 4 criminal DNA indices maintained by the program but are not part of the program itself; comparisons will be made between these indices, the Missing Persons Index, and Human Remains Index. These 4 are the Convicted Offenders Index, Crime Scene Index, Victims Index, and Voluntary Donors Index. The robustness of the database is unknown, as well as whether this man's DNA has been checked against any of these indices.
Previous threads and discussions
In a previous thread, u/ThrowCanada82 stated that they lived "less than a 2 hour drive from Tofield" and could " think of at least 4 reserves within an hours drive (which is definitely [ walkable) ]". u/morbidology posted about this case and proposed Edward Joseph Arcand and submitted the tip, but he was excluded. u/NightShiftHQ noted Tofield only had 1200 residents at that stage, but the man was still an unknown person.

AITX - Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions / AITX DD / Key Points list highlighting growth potential - 2021 and beyond:

Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions/AITX Key Points highlighting growth potential - 2021 and beyond:
1 - AITX is an international technology company that is offering artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced software and hardware technologies to revolutionize and disrupt the 128 billion dollar global security industry. AITX currently has about 30+ employees distributed across offices in the USA and Canada, with plans to grow to approx 50-60 employees by year end 2021 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6IXHyZ291U). AITX currently has an approximately 340 million dollar market cap.

14 - Demand for AITX technologies is so great AITX President Steve Reinharz recently had to increase his order for device materials from 60 shells up to 70 shells. (https://twitter.com/SteveReinharz/status/1351890188520198145)

His efforts have had impactful results, with Steve’s twitter followers now numbering ~ 7000, the number of followers on the AITX page on stocktwits.com now numbers ~ 18,500 (https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AITX), and just in the past 3 weeks almost 50 AITX focused Youtube videos have been created, where in the previous months there were only a handful.

Satellite manufacturer you probably haven't heard about

Wanted to make this thread to share with you a satellite company I find very fun to follow and I believe them to have big potential to be a big player in the future. They're also in the space sector which is just getting hotter and hotter.
ACCMF (OTCMKTS) - AAC Clyde Space. Satellite manufacturer based in Sweden and Glasgow with US and NL subsidiaries. Their marketcap is currently 51 268 651 USD (translated from 419 510 675 SEK ). Trading at ca 0,45 USD per share as of this moment.
Some of the press releases during 2020 that I find very fun to read about and gives you a hint that there is a lot of fun to come for this company:

[Game Preview] Week 4 - Philadelphia Eagles(0-2-1) at San Francisco 49ers (2-1)

Philadelphia Eagles (0-2-1) at San Francisco 49ers (2-1)
The Eagles are off to their worst start since 1999 when Eagles coach Doug Pederson was the starting QB for the Eagles in Andy Reid’s first season; where the Eagles started 0-3 and finished 5-11. The Eagles look to be on a similar trajectory this season with their 0-2-1 start following an embarrassing tie to the Bengals last week. The Eagles have the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL this season and the Eagles look like a bad football team. There really isn’t any other description of this team. They are bad on every level and it starts from the top. The team has played undisciplined and the offensive and defensive play-calling has been atrocious and has lacked identity. It seems like the game-planning this season has been phoned in with the coaches running the same vanilla offense and defense week in and week out and expecting the players to win it for them which they haven’t. Carson Wentz has regressed to the point he is unrecognizable and is making mistakes from his rookie season. His coaches don’t seem interested in helping him with fix those mistakes either as Doug Pederson and Press Taylor have failed to recognize Carson’s breakdowns in his mechanics. Their gameplans have done him no favors either utilizing a large number of 5 and 7 step drops despite having a multitude of injuries on the offensive line and at the wide receiver position. If the Eagles have any hope of salvaging their season they will need to pull out a win on Sunday night football against the 49ers and their strong defense. The 49ers are dealing with some injuries of their own with Bosa and Sherman on the IR on the defensive side and Jimmy G and Mosert most likely missing the game on offense. The San Fran defense is still tough with an impressive defensive line and speed all over the field. If Doug cares about Carson at all he will move the pocket and rely on Miles Sanders on the ground to keep the pass rush honest. On the defensive side, Schwartz will need to continue to mix it up with blitzes like he did against the Bengals, but he will need to pull his out of his ass in the secondary and learn that his CBs should not be playing 8-10 yards off the ball when playing man coverage. If Schwartz does a lot of the same in the secondary it could be a long day because Shanahan’s offense will exploit it and lead to another Eagles loss, this time in Prime Time. The Eagles will need to figure out how to get a win this week, or this streak of 3 straight playoff appearances will come to an end. Go Birds!

Eagles 34 - 49ers 10
The Eagles looked to win their 6th game in a row against the winless San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles got off to a slow start, only leading 3–0 after the first quarter. Late in the second quarter, the Eagles blew the game open. Carson Wentz found tight end Zach Ertz for a 1-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone off of a bootleg pass, and Jalen Mills intercepted rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown. The 49ers appeared to have some life in the third quarter, following a Carson Wentz interception, leading to a Matt Breida 22 yard touchdown reception. However, the Eagles responded, with Wentz connecting with Alshon Jeffery for a 53-yard touchdown, putting the game out of reach. The Eagles went on to win 33–10 and advanced to 7–1 on the season. Despite the win, the Eagles played a sloppy game on a rainy afternoon in Philadelphia.

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Eagles - The Eagles welcomed the Cincinnati Bengals to Lincoln Financial Field seeking their first win over Cincinnati since 2000. After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams traded field goals in the second, before the Bengals took a 10-6 lead on a touchdown reception by Tee Higgins. Wentz responded on the ensuing drive, as he threw his 100th career touchdown pass to Greg Ward to put the Eagles in front 13-10 at halftime. After the Eagles added another Jake Elliott field goal, the Bengals reclaimed a one-point lead with Higgins' second touchdown of the afternoon. Cincinnati would pad its lead to seven points with two fourth-quarter field goals. Trailing 23-16 with just over 3 minutes left in regulation, Philadelphia drove down the field to score the game-tying touchdown on a 7-yard run for Wentz. In overtime, both defenses held strong, with neither team being able to get into field goal range until the final drive, when the Eagles got to the Bengals' 41. However, a costly false start on Matt Pryor brought Philadelphia out of field goal range. The Eagles punted the ball, and the game ended on the following play with the Bengals at their own 20. Despite his milestone, Wentz's struggles continued as he also threw two interceptions for the third straight game and finished the game with a 62.8 passer rating. Philadelphia improved to 0-2-1 with the tie, but failed to snap their winless streak against Cincinnati and fell to 0-3-2 in their last five against the Bengals, including an 0-2-1 mark at Lincoln Financial Field. This marked the Eagles' first tie since 2008, which was also against the Bengals.
49ers - The way the San Francisco 49ers played, missing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and a slew of starters wasn't an issue against the woeful and winless New York Giants, who were also missing their best player in Saquan Barkley. 49ers backup Nick Mullens threw for 343 yards and a touchdown and the Niners controlled the ball on offense, took it away on defense and had another easy day on the East Coast in a 36-9 win at MetLife Stadium Sunday. San Francisco scored on seven of its first eight possessions. It would have been all eight but a snap-hold problem led to Gould missing a 55-yarder. He connected from 52, 32 and 26 yards. The Niners' ninth possession ended the game.

Stats to Know
Receiving RBs
What if I told you the Niners have two of the league’s best receiving Running Backs? (Yes, one is hurt). What if I also told you the Eagles’ defenders are presently poop covering RBs against the pass? That about sums it up. Mr. McKinnon should have a fun day.
Matchups to Watch
Carson Wentz
This is the only real battle that matters since it's extremely difficult to win in the NFL with poor QB play. Wentz is among the worst QBs in the league to start the season and it could be a significant amount of time before he changes course. Even the most stalwart Wentz supporters must admit he is also a problem with this team right now. With that said, in order to win this game, and any game moving forward, the Eagles need Carson Wentz to improve. Philly can't use the injury excuse in this particular matchup as the Niners are one of the only teams to be in a similar or worse injury predicament than the Eagles. Even with the injuries, the Niners are able to show up and show out on a weekly basis... They are a great team. Wentz has had issues in all areas pertaining to play. He needs to be more precise, smarter, and more relaxed. This team sucks; it's likely no amount of heroism if going to pull this team from the depths of the league this season. The only thing Carson Wentz can do is his job. He's not responsible for coaching blunders, other injuries, or a GM that can't get anything right. Just get better and when he does, this team can actually be competitive.
Kyle Shanahan and his offensive genius vs Jim Schwartz and the LBs and Safeties
It should be no surprise the Eagles LBs and Safeties struggle in coverage as they did nothing in the offseason to add players that can cover. Plain and simple. This is a defense with a great defensive line, a great CB1, and that's it. They struggle to play consistent run defense now with the mediocre talent in the second and third levels. Kyle Shanahan is one of the most innovative offensive minds in the NFL; if you thought the thumping Sean McVay gave us was painful, wait until we see what's in store from the guy who mentored McVay. Shanahan lives for finding your weakest links in the LB and Safety rooms and exploiting that deficiency mercilessly. Nate Gerry is about to have his worst game ever - and that says something. George Kittle should return for this contest which is a tremendous mismatch that the Niners will exploit. Even the best cover guys in the league struggle against Kittle as he's just a monster. Shanahan will use all kinds of motion, misdirection, and play action that will cause this defense to struggle mightily absent some sort of miracle where they learn to play. I have faith that the defensive line can play well, but as we saw in week 2, all the motion, misdirection, and play action teams use can neutralize a pass rush. Lastly, can Schwartz even put his guys in better positions? Yeah, probably not.
Doug Pederson’s Offensive Game Plan vs the Niners Defense
I tried to have a more nuanced look at this matchup but it is difficult. The Eagles offense is marred by underachieving talent and injuries to start the season. Furthermore, they weren't given enough to work with by the front office but that is an entirely different discussion. Point blank: the offensive coaching staff, led by Doug Pederson, has struggled to consistently put its players in successful situations to start the season. It's not all Doug's fault but a large part of it is. There wasn't a real identity to this offense to start and that's only gotten worse 4 weeks in. This roster isn't going to suddenly improve overnight, if at all this season, so it's up to the coaching staff to help the offense succeed. There are a lot of new cooks involved in creating the offensive game plan but not enough overall direction from the man in charge. The Niners defense has plenty of injuries to key players as well; can they design a function offense built on spare parts to put up a fight? Or will they punt?
Special thanks to MikeTysonChicken and abenyishay for their help in creating this Game Preview.

New enewsletter - Public meetings, community events, holiday hours and Coronavirus Update #39
Winter wonderland last year....
Long newsletter as this is the last one before the new year. A lot of info about public meetings, COVID updates, community events, and the like follows.
It’s been very busy here at the home office, and I’ve had trouble making the time to get this newsletter out, so I would like to thank Councillor Smith for putting his out Friday so I could borrow much of it today!
2020 has been a heck of a year, but I have to say I’ve never been prouder to be a Nova Scotian and to live in Halifax.
I love living where the collective safety and the health of our neighbours is one of our most cherished values. I thank you all for the sacrifices you have made this year and will continue to make until the vaccine is widely available.
This holiday break is going to be hard on a lot of people who cannot see their family. As you are able, consider what you might do to help your neighbours, donate to charities, support those in need.
As always, please be kind, be patient, and take care of each other.
I look forward to seeing you in person at some point later in 2021!
I am not sure how deep you have looked into our HalifACT Climate Change Action Plan? I want to share with you a TEDx Talk that was hosted by HRM staffer Shannon Miedema who leads our small but mighty Climate Action Team.
After watching this video I hope you will have a better understanding of our action plan and a deeper understanding of what we mean when we say Net-Zero. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve1uXHUKjSo
I’ll be out of the office from December 19 returning on January 4. During the break 311 will be open and Councillor Support office will be staffed Monday to Friday during office hours except for Christmas and New Years Day – the main line is 902-490-4050.
Please have safe and happy holidays and a Merry Christmas. and see you in the new year.

Winter 2020-21 Preparation Parking Ban starts Dec. 15, 2020 When and where you park in the winter can have a big impact on clearing streets and sidewalks during a winter storm. Residents are reminded to secure off-street parking for the winter months so that snow plow operators can safely and efficiently clear the streets and sidewalks. As in previous seasons, the overnight winter parking ban will be in place from Dec. 15, 2020 to Mar. 31, 2021. The ban will be enforced between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., during declared weather events and extended clearing operations. Residents are also reminded that in addition to the overnight parking ban, Section 139 of the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act states that tickets can be issued and vehicles can be towed any time, day or night, if they are parked in a manner that interferes with snow clearing.
The easiest way to know when the parking ban will be enforced is to sign up for the municipality’s alert system, hfxALERT.
For the most up to date information before, during and after a winter storm, visit Halifax.ca/snow and follow us on Twitter @hfxgov.
Winter safety tips
  • Never plow or shovel snow from your driveway onto the street or sidewalk. It is against By-Law S-300 and can cause serious problems for pedestrians, particularly those with mobility issues.
  • Adjust your speed. Wet roads can freeze even if the air temperature is above zero.
  • Never pass a plow when it is clearing snow from the road. Whiteout conditions are often created in the front of plows which reduces visibility and increases the chance of an accident.
  • Have a survival kit in your vehicle.
  • Children should not play in the snow along the side of the road or anywhere a snow plow is likely to operate.
The 2020 Halifax Christmas Tree Lighting (a special virtual event) and Holiday Projection Show The 2020 Halifax Christmas Tree Lighting event has been cancelled due to COVID-19 virus concerns, but you can still learn The Story of the Grand Parade Christmas Tree! Each evening the show will take place on the hour, quarter past, half past and a quarter to the hour. Example: 5 p.m. 5:15 p.m. 5:30 p.m. 5:45 pm
Playing Field Strategy Help shape the municipal Playing Field Strategy by sharing your feedback through our online survey. The municipality is developing a Playing Field Strategy to guide the planning and development of playing fields over the next 15 years to meet community needs across the region. The strategy will include an examination of:
  • Sports fields – all weather and natural grass sport fields, often used for soccer, football, rugby, and ultimate frisbee, among others
  • Ball diamonds – often used for sports like baseball, softball, slo-pitch, and fastpitch

Coronavirus update #39 – details and impacts during the second wave

I’m realy pleased with how HRM and Nova Scotia has by and large embraced the directions of Dr Strang and accepted this now 3 week pause to help bring our COVID-19 back to zero.
Our collective commitment to community health and safety was noticed in a Maclean’s article “Community buy-in critical to Nova Scotia’s ‘magnificent’ handling of pandemic – Volunteers at pop-up test sites, restaurants asking for a stop to in-person dining. Nova Scotians have rallied to bring the second wave under control.” https://www.macleans.ca/society/health/community-buy-in-critical-to-nova-scotias-magnificent-handling-of-pandemic/
Let’s keep it up, and hope we can return to the relaxed but on our guard new normal by December 16.
I am sure many residents saw this, bit I want to thank Dalhousie for sending this email to all staff and students last week, this is something many of you were asking for: “While we recognize the vast majority of our students are following Public Health directives, we wanted to remind students that there can be severe consequences for not doing your part in keeping our community safe. This includes being accountable for your choices both on and off campus. In addition to significant fines issued by our local police authority, our Code of Student Conduct will be used to the fullest extent possible to address deliberate disregard of Public Health directives.”
We have witnessed over the last two weeks the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Nova Scotia. The government of Nova Scotia announced new measures to help control the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Some of these measures include Nova Scotians being asked to avoid non-essential travel in and out of western and central HRM (which is defined as HRM from Hubbards to, and including, Porters Lake and the communities up to Elmsdale and Mount Uniacke in Hants County).
  • Gathering limit in public is now no more than five (or up to the number of members of an immediate family in a household)
  • mandatory masking now applies to common areas of multi-unit residential buildings, such as apartment buildings and condos
  • restaurants and licenced establishments are closed for in-person dining but may provide take-out or delivery
Parking in Downtown In response to the recent temporary closures due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases and in recognition of the importance to support local business; parking services is implementing “First 15 minutes free” at all parking spots in the Municipality.
Effective Wednesday, December 2, all residents using HotSpot or a pay station will receive the first 15 minutes of their parking session free in any zone. This is being done to facilitate short-term loading and pick-ups at restaurants and local businesses. This is a pilot program and is in addition to other Mobility Response Plan initiatives including the introduction earlier this year of ten 15-minute loading/parking spaces across the region. The following outlines the already in place short term loading spaces: • Spring Garden Road (south side, between South Park and Brenton) • Clyde Street (north side, just west of Queen Street) • Dresden Row (east side, between Spring Garden and Artillery Place) • South Park Street (east side, between Clyde and Spring Garden) • Portland Street (north side, between King and Prince) • Portland Street (south side, between Dundas and Victoria) • Prince Street (east side, near Portland Street) • King Street (west side, between Ochterloney and Queen) • Alderney Drive (east side, between Portland and Queen) • Charles Street (north side, between John and Agricola)
A notice of motion for December 1 and subsequent staff report outlining changes to AO15 to facilitate such approvals will be coming to Regional Council on December 15.
HRM Facility bookings and recreation programming The Halifax Regional Municipality continues to monitor and respond to the rapidly evolving effects of COVID-19. The following is an update on municipal services. As directed by the province, new public health guidelines will take effect in the Halifax Regional Municipality inside the boundaries of Hubbards, Mount Uniacke, Elmsdale and Porters Lake. Recreation programming, partner facilities, gyms & pools. With the closure of municipal recreation centres, pools and gymnasiums in the affected area, all recreation programming is cancelled for the rest of the fall season in those facilities. A further announcement on winter programming will be made in consultation with public health.
More information here: https://www.halifax.ca/home/news/response-covid-19-update-facility-bookings-recreation-programming
There are many resources available to residents stay updated with the constantly changing information and measures taking place to control the spread of Covid-19 and to help residents stay informed and safe. I will list some below:

Same shoe or not? Puma Clyde Hardwood (Team) Basketball Shoes

These shoes look basically the same and have the same name except for the "Team". The price is drastically different which worries me because it makes me think the cheaper one isn't as good since I've never seen any posts or videos with "Team" in the shoes they bought.
Just looking for some clearance if anybody knows or could help. (Pics attached)

ALSO, would anyone recommend this shoe for basketball? Or have any input? Would be greatly appreciated. (I'm 5'10, ~130 pounds - I play guard and also speed and getting past defenders is a big part of my game). And how is the sizing? I wear size 10 US on all my shoes, except the AF1 - I go 9.5.

Fat Kid Tries "Big" Miles: 37 Mile Desolation Wilderness Lollipop Loop

This was a physical fitness and gear shakedown hike for the JMT. These were my biggest days in terms of miles to date, previous to this I did a 26 mile loop in Yosemite over 2 days and 1 night. Before that I don't know if I ever touched double digits, even on a day hike.
Distance: 37 miles total through Desolation Wilderness from Echo Lakes Trailhead to Lake Schmidell
Caltopo: https://caltopo.com/m/MB0P
Conditions: Mostly sunny, highs of mid 70's lows of 52 °F. Some sprinkles on the first day, but nothing serious
Lighterpack: https://lighterpack.com/qx0gxe
Useful Pre-Trip Information or Overview: Permits are required for Desolation Wilderness. It's probably one of the most popular wilderness areas in the country, so book early from recreation.gov. In addition, although bear cans are not required, I would highly encourage them as the bears are apparently very active.

The Report:
Day 0: Knowing that Echo Lakes is one of the most popular trailheads, I wanted to get there early to secure a parking spot. After a bit of a fiasco about leaving my quilt behind in my apartment and my amazing GF driving to meet me half way with it, I arrived to the Echo Lakes parking lot at 2am to find the place completely packed. Absolute shit show. I ended up parking on the side of the road a little over a mile away basically in front of a cabin. I totally did not set off my car alarm accidentally at 3am.
Day 1: 15.5 miles, +2386ft, - 1879ft
Waking up at ~7am after getting around 3.5h of sleep in my car I had a quick breakfast of poptarts and flat coke, and got my gear together for the trip. I was off by 8:10am.
The first part of the trail walks by Echo Lakes, which was quite nice, but the trail is very busy. In general people were very polite and had buffs to cover their faces and made room on the trail when passing. I did ok on time, but wanted to do a little better. The day was getting hot, and the trail around Lake Aloha was very exposed. I started to get pretty hungry and my lake of sleep was catching up to me. I originally wanted to make it over Mosquito Pass and eat lunch at Clyde Lake, but the fatigue, hunger and heat were catching up to me so I broke for lunch around noon on the north side of Lake Aloha just before Mosquito pass. I took a quick nap on some granite while I aired out my feet on the shores of Lake Aloha.
Going over Mosquito pass wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but the descent sucked real hard. It was super rocky and exposed, and I was hiking in the afternoon sun. To make it worse it was a much steeper and longer descent than I thought it would be so it felt like it took forever.
Eventually I made it to the bottom and was blessedly walking on some softer ground amidst some tree cover. A few stream crossings later and I started my ascent up to Lake Schimdell. The lack of sleep was really hitting me right now. My legs felt fine, but as soon as I took a single step up hill my heart rate shot through the roof, which made the climb way worse than it otherwise would have been. Once at the top, I got slightly bamboozled by the small pond in front of Schmidell. I eventually found the actual lake and a really nice campsite ~70 yards away from the water. I think I plopped my stuff down ~4:30pm, to make for ~8h of time between camps. I took a dip in the lake with my trail runners and shorts/underwear on because I thought they'd dry out, turns out some clouds rolled in and my stuff was still wet in the morning.
Asleep by 7:30pm.

Day 2: 21.6 miles, +3502ft, -3910ft
After waking up to my alarm at 6am, I thought I laid in bed for ~5min, turns out it was closer to 30. I broke camp and was walking by 7:40am. Due to the lack of sleep on Friday night I considered just going back over Mosquito pass, but my bad memories from the previous day's hike and know that Dick's Pass has phenomenal views kept me to my original route.
The climb out of the valley started early and really kicked my ass. I buzzed by Fontanillis and Dick's Lake, which are both spectacular. It was extra nice because last year my GF and I did an overnight at Fontanillis so I got to see our old campsite. #Memories
The final push up to Dick's pass took me 50 minutes to complete from the sign post to the top. It's 1000ft over 1.6 miles. I was hoping to keep a steady pace and not stop, but I had to take a few breaks.
Once at the top I stopped for lunch to assess my mileage situation. I was definitely behind schedule and had ~14 miles to go at noon. I cut lunch short to 30 minutes and got on my way. The descent down the South side of Dick's Pass is pretty rocky and can be technically challenging. I passed a few groups of people on their way up, including someone with a UL pack and fanny pack. Once again this section is fairly exposed and I was hitting it during prime time sun. Once I hit the bottom of the descent you immediately bounce back up, which was pretty demoralizing at the time. Hitting Susie Lake was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting to hit it that fast. Heather Lake was also spectacular.
Once I hit Lake Aloha, I felt like I could breath a sigh of relief. It was ~3:30pm by this point and I realized I wasn't going to make my initial plan of a 5pm back to car time. I was also super fucking sick of walking on pointy rocks. My feet were very sore.
The shores of Aloha were significantly less crowded than the previous day, and I was pretty grumpy at the time so the solitude was fairly welcome. I stopped for a break on the South Eastern side of Aloha, just after you hit the treeline. My break definitely went on longer than I anticipated, but that's ok.
The next 1.5 miles brought blessed shade and soft dirt to walk on. That is until you get close to Echo Lakes. Then it's rock city and fuck yo' feet O'clock. Driven on by the fact that I was finally less than 5 miles to my car, I pushed as hard as I could over the shitty trail. There weren't nearly as many people today as there were on Saturday, but I still passed probably 5 groups going out to the Aloha area.
I make it back to my car by 7:30pm, eat some food, and drive back home to sleep in a bed.
Total time between start/end points: 12 hours almost on the dot.
Gear Notes:
Nunatak 25 °F Quilt: I have 4 nights in this thing and so far am loving it. It's 60in wide at the shoulders and 72in long with a 44" foot box. Although heavier than a lot of quilts at 27oz on my scale, it's so fucking comfy for me. I roll around a lot at night and really like a roomy bag. The only downside is that it's so hot, sleeping in the 50's kind of awkward. It's too cold for me to uncover too much, but the quilt is too warm to bundle up any.
SMD Gatewood Cape: It functioned pretty well on this trip. I was originally not going to set it up, but some dark clouds at evening made me set it up. With the trekking pole across the top, I had a decent amount of room on the inside. I did not use my bug net as flying bugs were not a problem. I did have 2 confirmed ants crawling on my at night though.
Arrowhead Equipment APEX Pillow: It's ok. Coming in at 5 oz it's a bit heavier, and initially is very comfy, but after an hour or so the APEX gets compressed and the pillow is pretty hard and uncomfortable. Back to the drawing board I guess.
Bidet: First time using it on trail and I'm a convert. I don't have to worry about TP consumption and I feel much cleaner.
Brook's Caldera 4's: After getting my ankles shredded by some La Sportiva Bushido's last year, I switched to the Caldera 3's. I got these fresh this year and they're ok. My feet were definitely pretty tired, but that's probably from my novice-ness with bigger miles, and the terrain I was on. I was definitely getting some hot spots on Day 1, but I think I solved it by really tightening down the front part of the shoe.
CalTopo Navigation: I used the Caltopo navigation feature on my phone and it works pretty well. I have never used GAIA or Guthooks though so I can't compare. After 2 days of navigation my phone (Pixel 3a) had slightly under 50% battery leftover.
Final Thoughts:
I've come a long way from my last trip report. I've dropped 40-45 lbs of body weight and my cardio is way better. These were my biggest mile days to date. I think my realistic enjoyment limit is 15 miles a day. On the second day, I was pretty tired and miserable on at the 14 mile mark. In addition I felt like I was more focused on miles than on what was going on around me. I missed some wonderful photo ops at Heather and Susie Lakes.
That being said, I definitely achieved some personal milestones I was hoping I would have moved a little faster. I probably averaged out to 2mph while moving. I was hoping to be at 2.5mph. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but I was definitely a little disappointed. The more I look back though, the more proud I am that I accomplished those 2 days back to back.
My legs feel tired today, not completely dead, but fatigued. I didn't really eat a whole lot for dinner on Sunday after I got back to my car, and a 3h drive home doesn't really help recovery. Self care is definitely a thing I need to dial in. On day one of this hike I basically only stopped for lunch and to filter water. On day 2 I made sure to stop for 10min every 2 hours at least to get my pack off and rest my feet. I think it helped a lot.
I have the JMT coming up on September 4th (The most interaction I'll need is a few stops at a gas station and my resupply bucket as I live in CA and have an amazing girlfriend who will shuttle me). My current plan is 15 mile days, which I think I'll be ok for. It was good to know I can do a bigger day if needed/wanted but I didn't have a lot of fun in the moment to be honest.
